UE4 ENGINEER

Overview

Steel Wool Studios is looking for contract engineering support with Unreal Engine 4 background to bring our game titles to life. Our office is currently located in the Bay Area, Oakland, CA. We are comfortable working with a candidate remotely, but on-site, full time is also a plus. In addition, prior experience with Unreal Engine is a must, and our ideal applicant will be able to work both independently and alongside other engineers and designers to implement a variety of different gameplay functions.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Managing, designing, and implementing new game systems and tools in UE4

  • Creating high quality, high performance code

  • Following coding standards and best practices

  • Provide accurate time estimates for tasks and work within those constraints

  • Developing a positive, constructive, and delivery focused relationship with a team of programmers and artists

  • Maintaining a solid understanding of the production pipeline at our studio.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have a Mix of the Qualifications Below:

  • Strong C++ experience and excellent mathematical skills

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of the UE4 3D Engine Experience with .NET

  • Ability to work independently and be self-directing

Pluses

  • An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games

  • C# knowledge and Unity Engine experience is a bonus

  • Experience with working alongside outsource teams

  • Adept at working in a fast pace, iterative environment

  • Experience working with Virtual Reality platforms including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR
