3D ANIMATOR

Overview

Steel Wool Studios is looking for a 3D Animator to bring our game titles to life. Our office is currently located in the Bay Area, Oakland, CA. We are comfortable working with a candidate remotely, but on-site, full time is also a plus. In addition, prior experience with Unreal Engine is a must, and our ideal applicant will be able to work both independently and alongside other engineers and designers to implement a variety of different gameplay functions.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Produce high quality, hand-keyed animations in a variety of styles while addressing feedback in a timely manner

  • Clean, modify, and retarget motion capture data for a broad range of characters     

  • Create and maintain state machines and other relevant systems utilizing animation blueprints in UE4 

  • Work collaboratively with designers and engineers to prototype and implement gameplay animation assets

  • Test, iterate, and verify animation quality in-game 

The Ideal Candidate Will Have a Mix of the Qualifications Below:

  • Must have 5+ years of game industry animation experience

  • Strong understanding of body mechanics and locomotion for humans and creatures

  • In-depth knowledge of Maya’s animation toolset and the UE4 animation pipeline

  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently for extended periods

Pluses

  • An avid gamer with a passion for creating great games

  • C# knowledge and Unity Engine experience is a bonus

  • Experience with working alongside outsource teams

  • Adept at working in a fast pace, iterative environment

  • Experience working with Virtual Reality platforms including Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Sony PlayStation VR
